Insomnia: Chapter One Is Releasing a Demo for Steam Next Fest

A frightening experience awaits you in Insomnia: Chapter One

MelonPolygon has officially announced that a free demo of Insomnia: Chapter One will be released during Steam Next Fest 2025. The demo, developed by independent creator Anzor Lezhava and published in collaboration with MonkeyFactory Media Sàrl, a Swiss indie label, will be the first major public presentation of the game. The game will also appear at Scream Fest 2025, along with an international lineup of atmospheric horror titles.

Insomnia: Chapter One takes players deep into the frozen wasteland of the Arctic. Here, silence and isolation are as dangerous as what lies beneath the surface. Taking inspiration from the films Still Wakes the Deep, The Thing and Amnesia, the game combines environmental storytelling with psychological tension and survival-based exploration. There is no fighting, only a growing fear of an environment that seems alive, whispering secrets through the pipes of Perseus Station, an Arctic research center collapsing under the weight of madness.

Players follow Ethan Miller, a young technician who is sent to a seemingly simple maintenance job. His mission quickly turns to paranoia and guilt as reality crumbles around him. Every corridor tells a story of what went wrong, and every shadow hides something better left undiscovered. To survive, Ethan must uncover the truth about what happened beneath the ice and confront the remaining horrors.

Designed as a slow-paced psychological experience, Insomnia: Chapter One invites players to explore, listen, and piece together the pieces of a decaying world. This marks the beginning of a larger episodic narrative that promises to delve even deeper into fear, isolation and the fragile limits of the human mind. You can also watch the official demo trailer below to get a taste of the journey ahead.
