The Indianapolis Colts coached four CFL players on Tuesday, including BC Lions defensive end Robert Carter Jr.
Also present at the workout were Hamilton Tiger-Cats linebacker Devin Veresuk, Toronto Argonauts linebacker Aaron Casey and Toronto Argonauts defensive end Derek Slivka, according to NFL transactions. 3DownNation first reported about Slivka's training on Monday.
Carter started all 18 games in 2025, earning the Lions' Most Outstanding Rookie nomination. He recorded 51 defensive tackles, five interceptions, one forced fumble and a defensive touchdown. Carter also started both of the team's playoff games, adding a 95-yard kickoff return touchdown in the Western semifinals.
The five-foot-10, 175-pound cornerback quickly earned a reputation for making spectacular plays. This included one-handed jumping interception against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats this drew attention to the videos on both sides of the border and widely considered the CFL's game of the year..
Prior to signing with the Lions, Carter attended Robert Morris University, where he was a second-team all-conference selection as a senior in 2024. In two seasons with the Colonials, he had 66 tackles, eight tackles for loss, two sacks, 14 pass breakups, five interceptions and two blocks, and returned 22 kicks for 588 yards and one touchdown.
The Danville, Virginia native transferred from UVA-Wise, where he had 74 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 17 pass breakups, seven interceptions and one fumble recovery in two seasons. Carter also returned 31 kickoffs for 660 yards and one touchdown for the Division II program.
It was Carter's second NFL workout after visiting the stadium. Denver Broncos last Friday.
Veresyuk was the second overall pick in the 2025 CFL Draft and played 15 regular-season games at middle linebacker in his first year for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He recorded 66 defensive tackles, three special teams tackles, two sacks, two touchdowns, one forced fumble and one interception. The Windsor, Ontario native was named the Eastern Division's Most Outstanding Rookie.
The 24-year-old football player played for the University of Windsor team. He recorded 160 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, nine sacks, five pass knockdowns, two forced fumbles and one interception, returning for a touchdown with the Lancers, and was named an OUA All-Star in 2024.
This was Veresyuk's fifth NFL workout since visiting the stadium. New Orleans Saints, Houston Texans, Cleveland BrownsAnd Denver Broncos.
Casey appeared in 15 games for the Argonauts as a rookie in 2025, mostly in package roles. The six-foot-two, 235-pound player has 27 defensive tackles, nine special teams tackles, six sacks and a forced fumble.
The 25-year-old played collegiately at Indiana University, where he was a first-team All-Big Ten selection as a senior. In 57 games with the Hoosiers, he had 244 tackles, 36 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, five forced fumbles and a blocked kick.
It was Casey's first offseason workout in the NFL. He previously played for the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in 2024.
Slivka recorded 46 defensive tackles, six special teams tackles, three interceptions, two forced fumbles, one defensive touchdown and one field goal return touchdown over 15 regular-season games in 2025. He was nominated by Toronto for Most Outstanding Newcomer.
The six-foot-three, 215-pound defensive back attended training camp with the Colts in 2024, although he was converted to wide receiver. He caught three passes for 27 yards in the preseason, but was released before the start of the regular season.
Slivka played collegiately at Ithaca College, where he made 119 tackles, seven tackles for loss, 11 interceptions, 30 pass knockdowns, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and four blocked kicks.
It was his first NFL practice, although he is expected to have another with the team. Cincinnati Bengals.
NFL Practice Window opened on Monday, November 17th.. The window to sign with an NFL team opens January 5, 2026 and ends February 10, 2026 at 12:01 pm EST.
NFL teams must request permission from CFL franchises to train players, and that request cannot be denied. CFL players can opt out of their agreements north of the border if an NFL team offers a contract, although their CFL team retains its rights for the duration of the existing contract.
The Indianapolis Colts currently sit in third place in the AFC South with an 8-6 record. They will host the San Francisco 49ers (10-4) on Monday, December 22 at 8:15 pm EST.
