“This is a game made by adults for adults,” was the phrase heard in a recent interview with Ryan Hill, creative strategist at CI Games, talking about Lords of the Fallen 2 in tandem with the gameplay trailer for “Jeff's Night of Pretending to Like Video Games.” The reason this phrase comes up is because the upcoming sequel is a violent one that hopes to be bloodier and more violent than its predecessor, to the point where you can chop off any limb you see in the game if you want.
“When we asked our community how far we should go in the next Lords of the Fallenthe response was loud and unanimous: “Go all in,” Hill said. IGN in the said interview. “This is a game made by adults for adults, and we didn't want to downplay the violence or intensity of the experience.
“Soullikes love a challenge, and the rush you get from defeating an enemy is like nothing else. Enhancing this with a dynamic dismemberment system takes the satisfaction to the next level – instead of enemies just falling to the ground, players can literally tear them apart.”
Hill also took pains to further clarify that yes, “any limb can be removed.” You can see some of this in the gameplay trailer above, and yes, it does look like some sort of limb-slashing, although how this affects gameplay at any given moment isn't immediately obvious.
We remind you that Lords of the Fallen 2 is sequel to Lords of the Fallen (2023), not Lords of the Fallen (2014), in case you've lost track of which Lords of the Fallen came out, when, and possibly where. The sequel is supposed to be released in 2026, but if I've learned anything while working on this work, it's that betting on dates is as smart as pissing in the wind.
