An Illinois chiropractor accused of secretly recording nude videos more than 180 of his patients, including young children.
Thursday Kane County Prosecutor's Office announced multiple felony charges against David Hanson, the 43-year-old owner of Hanson Family Chiropractic in Batavia, a suburb about 40 miles west of Chicago.
Hanson allegedly used hidden cameras to record patients, mostly women, as they undressed or were naked.
“Many of the recordings appear to have been made from a red light room used for red light and near-infrared light therapy,” the DA’s office said. “Hanson made the videos using hidden cameras secretly installed in his chiropractic office.”
During the investigation, detectives also discovered that Hanson “possessed and distributed numerous videos containing child sexual abuse material that were unrelated to his chiropractic business.”
Hanson was arrested Wednesday night after his home and office were searched. He has since been charged with five counts of production of child pornography, three counts of distribution of child pornography, six counts of possession of child pornography and three counts of unauthorized video recording of a minor through/under clothing.
The investigation was conducted by the Batavia Police Department and the Kane County Prosecutor's Office Child Exploitation Unit.
“Investigators were assisted by the Lake County Sheriff's Office, whose ESD K9 (electronic data storage dog) played a large role in discovering hidden cameras at the business,” authorities said.
They asked any additional victims to come forward.
Hanson is being held without bail. at the Kane County Adult Justice Center while his case is pending, according to online records. He will next appear in court on November 10.
