A Chinese illegal immigrant accused of killing a woman while driving a tour bus in Tennessee has been released to the United States by the Biden administration and given a commercial driver's license (CDL).
On December 9, 54-year-old illegal alien Eason Huang from China allegedly crashed the tour bus he was traveling in into the car in front of him, causing a multi-vehicle collision that killed Kerry Smith and injured two other Americans.
Police say Juan was watching video on his phone at the time of the fatal crash.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Department of Transportation (DOT) officials said Wednesday that Juan crossed the southern border in 2023 and was released into the interior of the United States thanks to former President Joe Biden's “catch and release” policy.
Huang, while in the United States, was able to obtain a work permit, Social Security number, and Class B CDL, which allowed him to drive the tour bus involved in the fatal accident.
“It's not just that Joe Biden allowed millions of migrants to flood our country illegally,” said Transport Secretary Sean Duffy:
His administration handed out to these unqualified foreign drivers the documentation needed to obtain truck licenses and operate 40-ton rockets on the highway. The fact that this man failed a basic English test also calls into question how he got his license in the first place. Working with Secretary Noem, we will continue to fight to keep you and your family safe on America's roads. [Emphasis added]
After the crash, Juan failed the English proficiency test required to obtain a CDL. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said that “too many innocent Americans have been killed by illegal aliens driving semi-trailers and large trucks” and that “sanctuary states across the country are issuing commercial driver's licenses to illegal aliens.”
“The Trump administration has ended the chaos,” Noem said. “The brave men and women of ICE are working nonstop to remove criminal illegal aliens from our communities and off our roads.”
