Ikea closing its small format store at Scarborough Town Centre – Toronto

IKEA announced that it would close its small format store at the SCARBORUGH Town Center shopping center in Toronto somewhere at the beginning of next year.

A furniture retailer reports that switching consumer behavior towards online purchases and a limited range of products that could be offered in a smaller store led to a weaker productivity more than expected.

A small -format store opened in August 2023.

It is expected that the place will remain open until the final date of closing is determined.

Ikea says 130 people work in the store.

The retailer states that he seeks to minimize the influence of closing for employees as much as possible, including the study of available options in other IKEA places.
