ICE Now to Deport 40 Undocumented Truckers – RedState

In recent days, we've seen some pretty high-profile busts of illegal foreign criminals, gang members and the like. These operations typically take place in our major cities, which is fitting since that's where many of these goblins try to hide from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the first place.

However, not all people in the country are illegal and do what they shouldn’t do, hiding in big cities. Some of them drive large trucks around the country, which has also led to several high-profile incidents involving drivers who do not speak English. Now in Laramie County, Wyoming, local authorities working with ICE have detained at least 40 drivers who are in the country illegally; they are now preparing for repatriation.

This is a victory by any standards.

The Laramie County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Wyoming Highway Patrol collaborated last week on a three-day operation to target commercial truck drivers on county roads, resulting in 40 deportations, authorities say.

Laramie County Sheriff Brian Kozak made the first public statement about the operation in a video Friday on the agency's Facebook page that he said he filmed “at one of our hard-working ports of entry.”

Kozak said his office, ICE and the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) worked together for three days in Laramie County, specifically targeting commercial vehicle drivers who use county roads to avoid ports of entry.

They performed 195 traffic stops.

And during these three days they detained 40 illegal immigrants. 44 trucks are now idle, and one can only guess what kind of cargo they were transporting. Were they trying to evade entry because of the driver's illegal status? Or was there something in the cargo? Both?

During these stops, WHP conducted 133 commercial vehicle inspections, resulting in 44 trucks and 38 drivers being incapacitated.

Forty illegal immigrants were in custody Friday awaiting deportation, Kozak added.

One of them, he said, was previously convicted of sexual assault and deported twice. Another had convictions for drunk driving and theft and was deported five times, the sheriff said.

In other words, these are not the people we want in the United States.

Having lived in the American West for three decades, I am very familiar with the region. Although Interstate 25 is the main north-south artery in the area and Interstate 80 is the east-west route, Laramie County borders Colorado and is directly on US Highway 287, which runs north from the Denver area and intersects with Interstate 80 in the city of Laramie. There are many other roads across this border if you want to enter Wyoming from the south; CO 125/WY 230 has no port of entry and leads into Camp Valley where the driver can exit onto WY 130 and meet I-80. Or CO 127/WY 230 takes you directly to Laramie and I-80. Once on I-80, truckers can head west to Salt Lake City, east to Omaha or Interstate 25.

The American West is full of these little highways and byways, and we're sure the illegals driving big trucks know about all of them. It's encouraging that ICE is also aware of them and is working with local law enforcement to cover as many of these roads as possible. And, best of all, American truckers help, and no one knows the country’s roads better than them.

Editor's note: Thanks to President Trump, illegal immigration into our great country has virtually ceased. Despite the lies of the radical left, securing our border did not require new legislation, only a new president.
