The Los Angeles Dodgers' bats went cold at the worst possible time, as they managed to score just three runs in Games 4 and 5 of the World Series.
And while Shohei Ohtani carried the California team on his shoulders after a routine playoff start, Mookie Betts looked like a deer on the highway against the Toronto Blue Jays, recording just three hits in 23 at-bats, all without a run.
In fact, the former American League MVP was demoted to pinch-hitter by manager Dave Roberts before yesterday's (Wednesday) game. And after Game 5, in which he didn't put the ball in play on four tries, Betts was honest about his struggles so far.
I don't want to talk about anyone else, but for me personally, I was terrible. I've been terrible and I wish it was due to lack of effort, I really do, but it's not and that's why I don't have the answers.
This deserves to be honest because, unfortunately, it is true.
“I was just terrible.”

As we all know, Betts didn't enter this downward spiral through a lack of effort or hard work. But we must admit that it will be difficult for the 33-year-old footballer to get out of this.
Despite everything that happened before, Betts will still have the opportunity to do something special in Game 6, and if he does, no one will still be talking about his playoff career.
The top prospect will have the day off and it will be interesting to see how he reacts as the Dodgers will need him if they want to keep their championship prospects who are now one loss away from ceasing to be defending champions.
