Game. Seven. World. Row.
After nearly making a comeback in Game 6 (what a terrible ending that was), the Toronto Blue Jays failed to complete the rally in the bottom of Game 9 and will head to Game 7 for the second straight playoff series.
The deciding Game 7 will take place today (Nov. 1) at 8:00 pm ET at Rogers Center, where either the Los Angeles Dodgers will look to capture their second straight World Series title or the Blue Jays will capture their first championship since 1993.
Max Scherzer will get the nod for Game 7. Scherzer, who pitched an 18-inning marathon in Game 3, pitched just over four innings of three-run ball, giving up two home runs and five hits while striking out three.
Shohei Ohtani is the expected candidate for the decisive playoff match. Ohtani, 31, started Game 4, giving up four runs on six hits and walking one batter in six innings of work.
The Blue Jays played well against Ohtani in this series, which should help the team rebound from a blowout loss to the billion-dollar Dodgers.
Where to watch
The good news is that the series will remain in Toronto for the final game (remember how that worked out last time?)
If you have the disposable income to spend on game tickets, verified tickets for resale are still availablealthough they are incredibly expensive.
For people who still want to watch the World Series with others and don't mind the commute, live streaming options are available (Nathan Phillips Square, Mississauga, Newmarket, Ajaxetc.).
As mentioned earlier, another free option is local radio broadcasting. If you're in the GTHA area, Sportsnet 590 The Fan will be broadcasting the game with Ben Shulman on the call. There are two other Sportsnet-owned radio stations in Calgary (960 The Fan) and Vancouver (650 The Fan); however, Vancouver residents will he will most likely be affected by the Vancouver Canucks game. that evening.
If you don't have access to AM/FM radio, there are three apps (Simplement radio, RadioLiAnd FM radio: AM, FM, radio tuner) which I tested ahead of Game 6, which will broadcast the World Series. They are insistent on subscriptions and showing ads, but I can still listen to radio broadcasts. Sirius XM radio is also an option (channels 174/175), but a package for streaming MLB games can be quite expensive ($29.99 per month).
Traditional streaming services (Sportsnet+, CityTV+) also exist, but they come at a cost. The current cost of the Sportsnet “standard package” is $29.99/month/$249.99/year, and a plan that combines the two streaming services costs $31.99 per month. Amazon Prime subscribers can also receive free seven-day trial of CityTV+ via the Amazon Prime Video app.
Satellite TV subscribers can also watch games on CityTV and Sportsnet and use their provider credentials to access Sportsnet+ and CityTV+.
You can also receive the broadcast through a free (and legal) television source, such as an over-the-air (OTA) antenna or an increasingly popular Free Advertising Television (FAST).
