How to Watch the Finale on HBO Max

How will “Heated Rivalry” continue from Episode 5?

The penultimate episode of the season brought tears and applause among fans as one of the show's main couples found themselves in the spotlight and another wondered how it might affect their own relationship.

The romantic hockey series has become a phenomenon since its premiere on November 28. In the series, hockey rivals Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie) start a secret romance, but their meetings gradually give way to real feelings.

Although the first season comes to an end after releasing six episodes on December 26, the series has been… renewed for another season.

In the meantime, here's what you need to know about watching the finale.

When will Episode 6 of Heated Rivalry be released?

The sixth episode, aptly titled “The Cottage,” will premiere on HBO Max at 12:00 pm ET on Friday, December 26th and 9:00 pm PT on Thursday, December 25th.

This title is a reference to the very last line of episode five.

After hockey player Scott Hunter (Francois Arnaud) takes his sweetheart Kip Grady (Robbie G.K.) out onto the ice for a kiss after his team wins the championship, Ilya decides to accept Shane's offer to spend a few weeks at his country house.

He calls Shane and says, “I'm coming to the cottage,” before the episode abruptly ends.

What else happened in Heated Rivalry Episode 5?

“I'll Believe Anything,” the fifth episode of Heated Rivalry, was a moment of triumph after four painful episodes.

Shane and Ilya have a breakthrough in their relationship. Ilya leaves for Russia after the death of his father. While dealing with differences in his family, he turns to Shane to help him take the pressure off. He delivers a monologue entirely in Russian, which ends with him telling Shane that he loves him – gasp!

Then, after Shane is injured on the ice during a match with Ilya's team, Ilya visits him in the hospital. Shane, a little unconscious after the treatment, is openly happy to see Ilya. He invites Ilya to his dacha. Although Ilya is initially reluctant to leave, he changes his tune after seeing another hockey player openly talk about his relationship with a man at a turning point, a stunning moment.
