How much will it be Galaxy Z Trifold expenses? This will be the most expensive phone most people have ever seen. But how much will it cost and, more importantly, how much will you actually pay? I have an idea.
Huawei Mate XT Ultimate It is currently the most expensive phone on the global market and is only available in select Asian markets. This is the first triple phone, but its design is noticeably different from SamsungGalaxy Z TriFold. It also costs the equivalent of $3,400 locally based on my online purchases and currency conversion.
I've heard that imported items can be purchased for over $4,000 if you can find a gray market site that sells them, but I wouldn't recommend buying a phone that doesn't work on local networks or doesn't have a local warranty.
Will the Galaxy Z TriFold cost the same as the Mate XT? No way
Firstly, Samsung's triple foldable phone is either a 6.5-inch phone or a 10-inch tablet. There is no intermediate mode with two active display panels. It's either one or three. This is different from a Huawei phone. This is a simpler design, which means it should reduce costs.
After all, a Huawei phone requires darkening one of the three foldable panels. Then it must be very strong because this panel bends at the back, leaving the glass exposed. There is also development work to ensure this feature runs smoothly. Take all that away and Samsung saves some money.
Secondly, Huawei is forced to produce its own chips because it is prohibited from using chips developed jointly with American companies. Samsung is leveraging last year's phenomenal Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset. This also reduces costs. Samsung allegedly ordered a huge batch of Qualcomm chips bearing the company's name. This makes them cheaper than a completely new custom chipset.
Using last year's Snapdragon is a very smart move. Samsung developers spent a year fixing bugs and releasing updates for phones with this chipset – all Galaxy S25 family and Galaxy Z-fold 7. This means less effort to develop this chipset in a completely new form factor.
Finally, while Samsung may not sell a ton of Galaxy Z TriFold devices, it will certainly sell them to its biggest customers: wireless carriers. You'll be able to buy this phone through a contract agreement with your favorite network provider, which is what makes such an expensive phone seem relatively affordable. This will be a monthly subscription fee that you will pay for three years.
Most people will pay for this phone on a monthly plan.
If the Galaxy Z TriFold was priced at $2,799, it would be available on AT&T and Verizon for $77.75 per month.
This is where I start with pricing: not the full retail price, but the monthly price that most customers will see. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 costs $1,999/£1,999, and AT&T and Verizon will get it to you for $55.55 per month for 36 months.
If the Galaxy Z TriFold costs the same as the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate, we can expect Verizon to sell it for $94.44 per month. That's… wow, that's a lot of money, on top of the $65 minimum you pay for a qualifying monthly plan.
On the other hand, if the Galaxy Z TriFold was priced at $2,799, it would be available on AT&T and Verizon for $77.75 per month.
This is a friendlier room. It's not that scary. Come and pet the big strange phone. It won't bite. Take him home and feed him. It's hardly worth anything.
My prediction? About $1,000 more than the Z Fold 7.
I predict the Galaxy Z TriFold will cost $2,799 / £2,799 / AU$6,000. This price will be aggressive compared to Huawei, which is what Samsung needs.
This would give Samsung's retail partners a good price to sell the incredibly expensive phone. It also adds less than $1,000 to the price of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, but you get one more time. If I'm wrong, I think my guess will be too low, but I'm willing to bet the starting price will be $2,799.
