Taylor Swift gives huge bonuses to her Eras Tour employees made a lot of headlines.
Now fans can see for themselves how the singer's dancers reacted when Swift personally presented them with bonus checks.
In an emotional scene from the second episode of the Disney+ docuseries: “End of an era” Swift gathers with her dancers as they hold unopened handwritten thank you notes from her.
After telling the dancers how much she appreciates their “hard work,” Swift asks one of them: Cameron Saundersto read his letter out loud.
“Dear Cam, We traveled the world as planned. We dazzled the crowd, but we also missed our family,” Saunders raps.
“My full gratitude doesn’t come from the bank, but here goes…” Saunders adds, before pausing to catch his breath after seeing the dollar amount of his bonus.
Saunders then finishes reading Swift's message out loud, but the docuseries censors the exact number with a beep.
Saunders' comrades covered their eyes and mouths with their hands in shock. Some are visibly crying.
Swift later hugs the crying dancers. “We love you so much. This is crazy,” one of them tells her.
While the exact bonus amount each dancer and crew member received is unknown, it's safe to say it was a huge amount. As some online viewers noted, it took several seconds to say the censored number out loud. And some tried to read Saunders' lips to determine what the shocking figure might have been.
Overall, Swift handed out $197 million in bonuses during the tour its Eras Tour employees, including dancers, band members, instrumental technicians, hair and makeup artists, costume stylists, choreographers, security personnel, truck drivers, merchandise team members, caterers, videographers, pyrotechnicians and riggers, lighting and sound technicians, production staff and assistants, carpenters and physical therapists, People reported.
Following the conclusion of the US leg of the tour in August 2023, the “Lover” singer surprised her truck drivers with bonuses of $100,000.
“Her father was actually presenting checks to our drivers,” trucking company Shomotion CEO Mike Scherkenbach told TODAY at the time. “And he submitted handwritten letters from Taylor. It's incredible that they took the time to do this and what it means to our employees to be recognized.”
