Republicans…not too concerned about Trump's death threats

Congressional GOP leadership and some rank-and-file Republicans largely dodged questions all day when asked about Trump's social media posts calling for the hanging of a group of congressional Democrats.

When House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Los Angeles) was asked about Trump's posts, he tried to deflect attention and point the finger at Democrats who said troops might refuse to obey “illegal orders.”

“It was completely inappropriate” Johnson said on Thursday. “This is very dangerous. Leading members of Congress are ordering troops to disobey orders. I think this is unprecedented in American history… I know young soldiers, airmen, sailors – they don't need this kind of nonsense from people in Congress.”

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) also tried to reject.

“What these people did was reckless, unnecessary and clearly provocative,” Thune said. “But I certainly don’t agree with the president’s conclusion about how we should handle this.”

Meanwhile, Senator John Kennedy completely avoided answering this question.

“I don’t have anything for you,” Kennedy said when asked about Trump’s posts. according to independent.

GOP senators warn Bondi to act quickly

Two Republican senators are calling on the Justice Department to act quickly and release the files it has on convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who was arrested on child sex trafficking charges before he died by suicide in prison in 2019. Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Thom Tillis (R-NC) told reporters that if Attorney General Pam Bondi drags her feet, there will be a backlash.

“You can adapt to any investigation, but if you keep things under control, I think they'll piss off a lot of people.” Tillis said. “I think it would be a good idea for them to figure out how to release as much as possible and then have a very clearly stated reason for what they can't… It would add fuel to the fire if they didn't produce anything meaningful.”

We unequivocally condemn Donald Trump's disgusting and dangerous death threats against members of Congress and call on House Republicans to vigorously do the same.

Donald Trump incited the violent attack on the Capitol on January 6 as part of a treasonous attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. The President's cruel and insane rhetoric against American patriots is consistent with his well-documented history of attacks on prisoners of war, Gold Star families and war heroes. Trump and Vance were not invited to Dick Cheney's funeral, but all four living former vice presidents were present.

The death threats were clear and explicit.

“This is truly bad and dangerous for our country. Their words cannot be allowed to stand,” Trump said in a statement. social truth mail. “KRAMOLOV CONDUCT FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM???”

“SEDIMENTARY CONDUCT, punishable by DEATH!” he continued.

This reinforces his vows of retaliation to investigate and punish his political opponents by orders of magnitude. And Democratic members of Congress are taking the threats seriously. The same cannot be said about the Republican leadership, which we will discuss in more detail below.

In a joint statement, House Democratic leadership condemned Trump's death threats and announced that the leadership had contacted law enforcement about protecting those singled out by Trump. Here is a statement from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), Minority Whip Katherine Clark (D-MA), and Democratic Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar (D-CA):

Representatives Jason Crow, Chris Deluzio, Maggie Goodlander and Chrissy Houlahan, and Senators Mark Kelly and Elissa Slotkin have all served our country with great patriotism and distinction.

There is no bottom when it comes to Donald Trump.

We have contacted the House Sergeant at Arms and the U.S. Capitol Police to ensure the safety of these members and their families. Donald Trump should immediately delete these insane social media posts and stop his violent rhetoric before he kills anyone.

The lawmakers Trump singled out also issued a joint statement, doubling down on their original message and declaring: “No amount of threats, intimidation or incitement to violence will deter us from this sacred commitment.” Slotkin also released a video.

“I hope that people of all backgrounds—Democrats, Republicans, independents—will agree that issuing death threats to people with whom you disagree goes beyond who we are as Americans,” she said.
