Hollow Knight: Silksong Creators Confirm DLC Is Coming

After spending seven years working on Hollow Knight: Silk SongTeam Cherry Hollow Knight follow up one of the most successful games of 2025. For an encore, Team Cherry confirmed that DLC will be released for Silksong. Just don't expect it too soon.

“I really don’t know what else people will necessarily want to hear other than what we’re already saying,” said Team Cherry co-founder Ari Gibson. Bloomberg. “Yeah, we're still working on the game, we're doing things that excite us… I think people might want to hear that something new is coming in a reasonable amount of time, not seven years from now.”

Gibson went on to explain that he and Team Cherry co-founder William Pellen “might have some vague ideas” about the DLC, but added that he doesn't want to “overpromise” and undersell the game's fans. He also hinted at the return of Steel Assassin Sharpe, an enemy character from the first game.

“[Sharpe is] just biding my time,” Gibson said. “Waiting to arrive is probably the best way to put it. One of these enemies, a small retinue of Sharpe and his companions, they hid for a while because there was so much more to the game. And all these parts need polishing, and polishing takes time. We are delighted to reintroduce Sharp. We just need to get to them.”

In the meantime, the Cherry team continues to support Silksong. PC patch reducing the difficulty of Silksongand the update that weakened Muckmaggots and replaced the game's unpopular Chinese translation with a fan-made translation that was much better received than its predecessor. Previous patch added support for DualSense Edge and target known bugs in the game. The Cherry team also explained that the reason why Silksong is so complex because they made the main character, Hornet, so powerful.
