I've tried several meal kits before, but… HelloFreshThe latest promotion really caught my attention. The deal offers new users free Chef Knife Zwilling Four Star ($55, originally $170) plus 10 free meals with third delivery and I was eager to see how it compared to other services.

For this delivery I allowed HelloFresh ($33, originally $77/box) pick my food. Although the offer stated 10 free lunches, I received three, which was enough for me to understand what I was working with. So far I have tried two dishes: Sweet Heat steak and bowl of rice with shishito peppers And Miso Curry Ramen. Below, I'll tell you everything you need to know about the HelloFresh meal service so you can decide if it's worth giving it a try.

What I like about HelloFresh

Everything arrived neatly packed on ice, each dish in its own bag with all the ingredients, making the cooking process organized and accessible from the start. Recipes are for two or four people. I found it easiest to make it all at once, but since each ingredient is portioned, it's just as easy to split meals up or save them for later. I was impressed by the quality and quantity of ingredients, especially the fresh vegetables and protein. We even had leftovers which I enjoyed all week.

What stood out most was how easy everything was to do. The dishes feel sophisticated and chef-inspired, but the recipe cards guide you through every step. Cooking time is estimated at 20 minutes, it took me 30-35 minutes, but I was in no rush. The process felt enjoyable and the food was perfect for sharing with a friend, roommate, or loved one over a drink. wine.

I also value flexibility. I'm not a big meat eater, so I like to separate the ingredients and cook the dishes to my liking. I even added some ingredients to the extra dishes, a bonus that made the set even more valuable.

Finally, the Zwilling Four Star Chef's Knife is a fantastic addition as an added bonus. A good knife is hard to find, so this collaboration brings real benefits beyond food.

Things to Consider Before Trying HelloFresh

I'll admit, I made the mistake of not defrosting the steak early enough for the rice bowl, and the ramen was good too, although not quite my favorite style. These little tangles are a reminder that if you want full control over your food intake, including cooking time – this service may not be suitable for you.

HelloFresh is a great option for nights when you want to stay home without ordering takeout or settling for something basic.
