HealthPRO Canada Launches National Council to Accelerate and Scale Health Innovation – The Canadian Business Journal

Oakville, Ontario, Nov. 03, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — HealthPRO Canada today announced the launch of the National Health Innovation Council in Newfoundland and Labrador, NL, as part of the 2025 Health Innovation Summit. This new pan-Canadian network of leaders from all 10 provinces is designed to accelerate the adoption of innovative health solutions and break down barriers to their adoption across Canada.

“There is no shortage of exceptional healthcare innovation in Canada,” said Christine Donaldson, President and CEO of HealthPRO Canada. “What is often missing is a clear, coordinated path to scale. Through the Council and together with our partners, HealthPRO Canada will help bridge this gap by bringing together leaders from across provinces, sectors and disciplines to create real system change.”

The Council will focus on:NLHealthServices.ca

  • identifying high-impact innovations in healthcare,
  • identifying policy, procurement and structural issues that limit their distribution, and
  • working together to develop practical pathways from demonstration to procurement to system-wide implementation.

To achieve these goals, the Council is committed to strengthening health systems, accelerating access to proven innovations, and amplifying the impact of Canadian ingenuity across the country.

“I am honored to serve as the inaugural Chair of the National Health Innovation Council because I believe in the power of innovation to transform healthcare and have been a champion of this work for several years in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada and beyond,” said Ron Johnson, Vice President of Digital Health, Innovation and Research and Chief Information Officer (A) of NL Health Services. “Across Canada, we are seeing incredible ingenuity in health care. This Council provides an opportunity to break down silos, harmonize systems and create an environment for innovation to advance the health and well-being of all Canadians.”

Created in collaboration with healthcare leaders across the country, the Council brings together policymakers, clinicians, innovators and procurement experts from across Canada, including national organizations such as the CAN Health Network, to accelerate adoption and remove barriers to innovation.
