Health Canada review extension for a number of Oster toaster models due to a defect in the product's glass French doors, which may cause them to close unexpectedly and burn some consumers.
According to the health agency, the recall applies to a number of models that have the same fault: TSSTTVFDXL, TSSTTVFDDGDS, TSSTTVFDDG-033, TSSTTVFDHLPP-033 and TSSTTVFDDAF-033.
Consumers can find the model number on the back of the device or on the original packaging.
The health agency first announced the recall of some models in September, but expanded it to include another model – Model TsSTTVFDDG-033 – yesterday.
Oster says 104 195 affected units were sold in Canada between from August 2015 to July 2025
Health Canada urges Canadians to immediately stop using the recalled ovens and contact Sunbeam Products Inc. to receive a free repair kit.
Oster says they will send customers a clip-on device that prevents the doors from closing while the oven is in use, as well as instructions on how to install the device. The company does not offer refunds or replacement ovens.
The recall also applies to models sold in the United States. Oster says they received 95 reports of injuries from American consumers related to unexpected door closures, two of which were second-degree burns.
According to the company, no casualties have been reported in Canada.
