Although I consider myself a fit and active “Sporty Spice” type of girl, I admit I've never been particularly interested in I'm watching sport. But if any book could make me instantly turn on the sports channel and buy a T-shirt, it's the BookTok sensation. Heated rivalry. So, when I heard that a raunchy LGBTQ+ love story about hockey rivals falling in love was coming to the big screen, I got giddy. And one day the trailer fell?!? Well, the Internet and I instantly lost our collective mind.
For those who need to quickly catch up, the novel Heated rivalry Rachel Reed (Canadian writer born in Halifax) follows Ilya and Shane—NHL players on rival teams—through eight harrowing years filled with sex, romance, tension and yes…hockey.
Shane Hollander (played by Hudson Williams) is the captain of the Montreal Voyagers – a fictional Canadian hockey team – when he faces the Boston Bears and meets his professional rival, sexy Russian native Ilya Rozanov (played by Connor Storrie). Shane thought that nothing could distract him from the game, but it seems that he has found a worthy opponent in Ilya, both on the ice and in bed.
And if you thought it couldn't get any more exciting, it did. announced that there will be three sex scenes in each episode. So while the story is mostly frozen, it's just hot. And we really can't wait to see it all.
When the story went viral on BookTok, fans were eager for a sequel. And luckily for us, that's exactly what we get – in a six-part TV series. Heated rivalry is the pure core of Canada. Filmed in Ontario and Quebec, it celebrates our national sport and is a Canadian streaming service Crave Original. Honestly, it's practically dripping in maple syrup.
And because there was so much buzz about it, even before the premiere of Thirst international release was quickly announced as fans around the world were excited about the series adaptation of the beloved book and asked for it to be available in their countries. So no, USA, you won't need a VPN to watch Ilya and Shane fall in love.
And although the tension, longing and chemistry in trailer And teaser alone is enough to get anyone's head spinning, we could be rolling out a six-part series. With the second novel already written by Rachel Reid, it wouldn't be surprising to see more Canadian hockey vulgarity on screen in the future.
And if I haven't gushed enough, here's what the Internet says:
Heated rivalry The first two episodes premiere Friday, November 28th on Crave in Canada and HBO Max in the USA and Australia, new episodes are released every Friday. So be sure to tune in. Let me know in the comments if you'll watch it with me.
