Hayao Miyazaki Box set “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind” on sale for a great price on Amazon. Normally $80 for the 1,104-page slipcased collection, it's discounted to just $47.89. Nausicaä is Miyazaki's only manga series, and the hardcover box set collects the complete storyline. Amazon's current price is essentially the best deal we've seen all year ($47.61), and that deal didn't last long. Amazon estimates orders placed today will be delivered within one to three weeks.
Viz Media originally published the Nausicaa manga box set in 2012, and the publisher has kept it in print ever since. However, the box set has been mostly out of stock on Amazon this year. The Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind box set makes a great gift for a Studio Ghibli fan this holiday season. The Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind box set has been collected all seven volumes Miyazaki's beautifully written and illustrated manga two premium hardcover books with a total volume of 1104 pages. Each large volume features a beautiful watercolor cover and endpapers painted by Miyazaki. The books are packaged in a decorative case with original illustrations by the author. In addition to the books, the box set includes a fold-out watercolor poster of Nausicaä, Princess of the Valley of the Wind.
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind is best known as full-length animated film script, director Miyazaki. The film premiered in 1984, two years after the manga debuted in Japan. The manga was still in its infancy when Miyazaki wrote the script for the film. The resulting approximately two-hour feature film is an abbreviated interpretation of the first volume, with some plot points and themes from the second volume.
The manga ended in 1994, a full decade after the film. So, if you've just seen the film, you'll be introduced to about 1,000 pages of story for the first time. Viz Media first published an English translation in 1990, and the full story has now been available to English readers for almost 30 years.
The series is also available in paperback, but all seven volumes will set you back around $86 right now.

Steelbooks are actually cheaper than the standard version now. If you're not interested in steel cases, Walmart has a two-film Studio Ghibli box set with Nausicaa and Princess Mononoke for $20. All Blu-ray releases of Studio Ghibli films also come with DVDs.

This is a story that has a lot in common with Princess Mononokeis another Studio Ghibli film that explores humanity's attempts to continually dominate nature – and like that beautiful fantasy film, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind has gorgeous visuals and fantastic character designs. So it makes sense why these two are combined in a Walmart exclusive two-pack.

You should definitely check out Viz Media's current news. Studio Ghibli Film Comic: All-in-One Edition. Numerous Ghibli films written and directed by Miyazaki have received comic book adaptations, with screenshots and text taken directly from the films; It's basically like reading a movie, which is pretty cool because you can enjoy the artwork. Originally released in paperback in four to five volumes, All-in-One Editions collect all the stories in one inexpensive hardcover. There are currently four editions of Studio Ghibli Film Comic: All-in-One Edition published, with two more available for pre-order. These books are read from right to left, like traditional manga.
Picture books and novels by Studio Ghibli
Many other Ghibli films besides Nausicaä have received picture book adaptations, including Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle. If you like My Neighbor Totoro, you have the official picture book and novelization.
Studio Ghibli films often receive official art books, and many of the hardcover books listed below are currently on sale. The newest addition to the line is Boy and Heron Artwhich sells on Amazon for $23.26 (was $40).
Studio Ghibli Companion Books and Art Books
A must-have companion book for Ghibli fans, it's simply called: Hayao Miyazaki. Published in 2021 in collaboration with the Academy Museum, this 288-page book is a beautiful visual history of Miyazaki's filmography. Studio Ghibli: The Complete Works looks at the studio as a whole. The first edition was released in 2022 and costs only $20, but you can also pre-order the expanded second edition for $44 ahead of its November 25 release. In October, a huge 568-page collection of background images used in Studio Ghibli films was published. It does have Japanese text, but since it's almost entirely visual, it doesn't really matter. Drawing the Worlds of Studio Ghibli available for $125 (was $170) and sold/shipped by Amazon.
