The Atlanta Hawks have parted ways with four-time NBA All-Star point guard Trae Young, trading him to the Washington Wizards in a blockbuster deal. according to ESPN.
Hawks The trade is rumored to include veteran shooting guard C.J. McCollum and forward Corey Kispert.
Washington was Young's preferred destination, and both sides were working on a deal to bring the 27-year-old point guard to the nation's capital.

Young's agents were in talks with the Hawks, who are 17-21 this season, about trading their client from Atlanta.
There is a mutual connection in WashingtonAdditionally, executive Travis Schlenk selected Young fifth overall in 2018 out of Oklahoma.
This marks the end of the Hawks era. Young has been the focal point of their offense since he was drafted. He leads the team in three-pointers and assists, having led the team to the postseason in three of his eight seasons. The Hawks went the furthest in 2021, where they reached the Eastern Conference finals.

However, a new era was already brewing in Atlanta as forward Jalen Johnson took the next step in his career, averaging 23.7 points per game this season. The acquisition of Nickeil Alexander-Walker, who averages 20.5 points per game in 36 games, also helps.
Meanwhile, Young played in just 10 games this season as he dealt with leg injuries, most notably a sprained right MCL.

The Hawks also gain some flexibility in their moves as they can make a few more moves. Anthony Davis is reported to be available on the site Dallas Mavericksmaking him a good target for Atlanta.
Young has $95 million remaining on his deal, which runs through the 2026-27 season and includes a player option this offseason.
Atlanta will take on McCollum's contract even though the veteran guard is on an expiring $30.6 million contract.
Through 10 games this season, Young is averaging 19.2 points, 8.9 assists and 1.5 rebounds per game while shooting 41.5 percent from the field.

For his career, Young has dropped 25.2 points and 9.8 assists per game and led the league in the latter category last season with 11.6 per game.
