LOS ANGELES — Harrison Ford will receive the SAG-AFTRA Lifetime Achievement Award in March.
“Harrison Ford is a unique presence in American life; an actor whose iconic characters have shaped world culture.” union president Sean Astin, said in a statement Thursday. “We are honored to celebrate a legend whose influence on our craft is indelible.”
He will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award on March 1st 32nd Acting Awards presented by the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. The awards ceremony will be broadcast live on Netflix from the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall.
Ford, 83, has played many iconic roles during his six-decade career. He became a global star as Han Solo in 1977's Star Wars, reprising the role several times as the first film became a franchise. As the daring archaeologist Indiana Jones, he launched another franchise in 1981 with Raiders of the Lost Ark.
And he starred in two Blade Runner films as Rick Deckard, as well as numerous television roles.
Ford has earned numerous awards over the years, including the Critics' Choice Award for Career Achievement (2024), the Cecil B. DeMille Golden Globe Award (2002), the AFI Life Achievement Award (2000), and others.
“I am honored to be selected as this year’s SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award recipient,” he said in a statement. “It means a lot to me to be recognized by my fellow actors. I've spent most of my life on film sets working alongside incredible actors and crews, and I've always felt grateful to be a part of this community.”
The SAG-AFTRA Lifetime Achievement Award is given to an actor who exemplifies the “best ideals of the acting profession.” It also acknowledges his work on various humanitarian and environmental reasons.
