Hardware and software sales drop to an “all-time low” in November 2025 | US Monthly Charts

U.S. hardware and software revenues fell sharply in November 2025, breaking domestic tracking records, according to Circana.

Equipment expenses fell 27% from $949 million to $695 million, the lowest total revenue since November 2005, when it reached $455 million.

Last month, 1.6 million units were sold in the US across all platforms, the lowest total for November since tracking began in 1995.

PlayStation 5 has become the best-selling console, dethroning Nintendo Switch 2 for the first time since its launch in June.

NEX Playground came in third, followed by Xbox Series X|S. Talking to IGNCircana's Mat Piscatella reported that console sales were down 70% year-over-year, a “historic low” for US sales for the month of November.

Piscatella noted that the last time Xbox sales grew was in November 2021, when they reached 11% compared to last year.

Despite taking first and second place, PS5 sales are down 40% compared to last year, and Nintendo Switch 2 (along with Switch 1) sales are down 10%.

In physical software, sales fell 14% from last year, another all-time low since tracking began in 1995.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 became November's best-selling game, marking the 18th consecutive year that the franchise debuted at number one in its release month.

It has become the seventh best-selling game of 2025 to date, but the franchise's sales are down double digits since last November.

Overall, U.S. content spending rose 1% year over year to $4.8 billion.

Subscription spending increased by 16% and mobile spending by 2%. These numbers offset lower content spending on consoles and PC.
