The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have interviewed Brock Sunderland for the position of general manager of the team, according to sources.
Sunderland spent the 2025 season with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers as the team's senior director of player personnel. The Ticats asked and received permission to speak with him. He was hired in January after leaving the CFL as of November 2021 when he was fired from his post as Edmonton general manager in restoring order with former president Chris Presson and head coach Jaime Elizondo.
The 46-year-old was hired by Double E in April 2017 after Ed Hervey was released. His regular season record was 32-36, and Edmonton's record got worse every year: 12-6, 9-9, 8-10 and 3-11. The Great Falls native was 2-2 in the postseason Monday. The former CEO was paid by Edmonton for the 2023 season.
Sunderland are linked with current Ticats head coach Scott Milanovich. He hired him as Edmonton's head coach in December 2019. after dismissal of Jason Maas after losing in the Eastern final. Milanovich spent one year with Sunderland and left his bench coach position in January 2021 to become the Indianapolis Colts' defensive backs coach, but never coached the Elks.
The veteran recruiter first joined the CFL as a scout for the Montreal Alouettes in 2004 and was named the team's director of scouting, a position he held until 2007. From 2008 to 2012, he worked in the NFL as a pro scout for the New York Jets. Prior to his time in Alberta's capital, Sunderland was assistant general manager in Ottawa for four seasons, helping the Redblacks. win the 2016 Gray Cup.

Hamilton ranked fourth in attendance with an average attendance of 22,858, up 3.9 percent from the previous year.
