Halo Infinite’s Last Update Arrives This Month As Devs Move To Other Halo Projects

Time Halo: Infinity is coming to an end. Microsoft and Halo Studios have announced that the game's next major update, Operation: Infinite, will be its last. The announcement was made on Friday during Halo Studios' Halo: Infinite livestream.

In a message published Halo official websiteHalo Studios thanked fans for their support of Infinite. The team also noted that this decision was made to allow the developers to focus on the “multiple Halo games in development.” This part is nothing new or surprising, considering that Microsoft I've been saying this for over a year now that there are several new Halo games in development.

“With multiple Halo games in development, we will need our entire team working together to deliver new experiences with the same passion and care that our community has given us,” the statement said. “While we remain committed to supporting Halo Infinite in the future, Operation: Infinite is the last major content update planned at this time.”

The only Halo game currently in development is Halo: Campaign Progressionremake of the original Halo, which will bring the franchise to PlayStation 5 for the first time. Separately, there were rumors about Halo game with live servicewhich remain unconfirmed for now. If these reports are true, this game could be a spiritual successor to Halo Infinite.

Earlier this month, Sandy Peterson dropped some light in Halo MMO from Ensemble Studios, developer of Age of Empires, which closed in 2008. According to Peterson, the project never saw the light of day because then-Xbox head Don Mattrick canceled it to protect his stock bonus.

Master Chief creator Marcus Lehto recently stated that Halo remake 'warms my heart' while another ex Halo developers criticize some of the remake's changes.
