Hades 2like its older cousin before it, it's a roguelike with seemingly endless building-building potential, but the sequel also, not-so-secretly, houses a thick tome of great work, and some of the stats made me raise my jaw.
Talk to GamesRadar+ about Hades 2 and whether there was anything left on the cutting room floor, creative director Greg Kasavin said, “Hades 2, like the original, is a game that can technically be played forever, so I can understand wanting to include even more story in it!”
If you're not aware, both Hades games incorporate death and roguelike cycling into their narratives. The Greek pantheon, which we constantly encounter in every playthrough, remembers us and seems to have something new to say even after dozens of playthroughs.
To keep this narrative structure afloat, developer Supergiant Games needed to flesh out its characters many words “The game has a script of over 400,000 words and over 30,000 voice lines—about 50% more than the original game,” Kasavin shared. “It includes all the major details we wanted to include in our characters.”
When asked specifically about Characles and Prometheus, the director said, “If you haven't reached the epilogue of the game yet and continue to encounter them for a while after that, then you probably haven't seen everything they have to say or what other characters have to say about them.” So, keep up the good work.
Hades 2 was one of our options best games of 2025. It is currently available on PC, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, with a physical release now available.
I was one of the first to see the true ending of Hades 2, and I don't know how I feel about Supergiant revisiting the whole thing.
