Hundreds of employees of the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice were affected by a massive hack. in accordance with 404 Media. The break-in occurred as masked federal agents from ICE and DHS swarmed city streets, brutally kidnapping and arresting people.
The hack was carried out by a group known as Comresponsible for various political leaks and high-level crimes. The latest leak allegedly exposed the personal information of 680 DHS employees, the personal information of more than 190 Department of Justice employees, and the emails of 170 FBI employees. 404 Media was able to confirm that the hacking included the names of officials, office addresses, and sometimes home addresses.
“Mexican cartels, hmm” [hit me up] we reset all the documents where my 1 month is. [1 million],” said one of the group’s Telegram posts, citing DHS’s baseless claim that cartels placed information bounties on federal agents.
“Do you guys need the IRS next?” said another.
The hack occurred in the midst of the Trump administration's campaign to convince the public that federal agents, not the people they arrest, gas, beat and shoot, are in immediate danger, a convenient excuse to allow those agents to remain masked. The administration has also pushed platforms to remove ICE tracking and reporting apps like ICEBlock.
The Trump administration has not yet commented on the leak.
