Erling Haaland scored again as Norway moved closer to qualifying for the World Cup for the first time since 1998 with a 4-1 win over Estonia in Oslo on Thursday.
The victory effectively secures the high-scoring Norwegians a place in next year's tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Norway has a significantly higher goal difference than second-place Italy, who are six points behind in Group I. Italy will play Moldova later on Thursday.
If Italy fails to win this game, Norway will advance and Italy will have to settle for the knockout stage, where the four-time World Cup champions were shockingly eliminated in the last two editions. Norway travel to play Italy on Sunday.
All goals were scored in the second half. Haaland scored twice in six minutes to extend the lead to 4-0 after Alexander Sørloth had given the hosts a 2-0 lead shortly after the break.
Haaland scored 14 of Norway's top 33 goals in Europe in seven group stage games. The Manchester City striker was born two years after Norway last qualified for the World Cup.
Later on Thursday, France need to beat Ukraine to progress out of Group D with a game to spare, while Portugal can also advance by beating Ireland in Group F.
England, the first European country to qualify, will play Serbia in Group K.
Earlier, Iceland beat Azerbaijan 2-0 in Group D, while Hungary picked up three points in a 1-0 win over Armenia in Group F.
