Gunmen Storm House, Kill Four in Cartel-Controlled Mexican Border City

A group of cartel gunmen disabled a home's security system before breaking in and killing four victims in the latest violence in the Mexican border city of Reynosa, Tamaulipas state. The killing comes as government officials continue to claim the region is safe while the Gulf Cartel terrorizes locals.

The murder took place last weekend in a house in the southwest of the city in the Colinas del Real area. The case began when a McAllen woman was unable to contact her loved ones and went to their home to check on them. When she arrived, she discovered the bodies of a 60-year-old man, his wife and two sons, who had been shot several times.

According to information provided to Breitbart Texas by Tamaulipas state investigators, the house was located next to an auto repair shop owned by the family. Before the gunmen broke into the house, they cut the wires to various surveillance cameras in the area. The militants also stole the security data storage system. Authorities also found several .380-caliber bullet casings at the scene.

Although a motive has not been established, the details of the crime make the Gulf Cartel the most likely culprit, law enforcement sources said. Largely due to the widespread complicity of Tamaulipas and the Mexican federal government, the Metros faction of the Gulf Cartel continues to control the city of Reynosa, where they not only control drug trafficking and human smuggling, but also conduct large-scale extortion and kidnapping operations targeting local business owners.
