The fact that it drops one level above your normal rewards certainly doesn't hurt.
A new submachine gun, Gunburn, has arrived at the Festival of the Lost, striking fear into the hearts of the Headless. The new Kinetic Light Weapons include the recently released Kinetic Perks, as well as one of the most sought-after traits in Core Skills that does not deal elemental damage.
Gunburn already faces intense competition from Multimach CCX, is a well-loved, easily accessible, time-tested submachine gun with Orbs of Exhaustion/Kinetic Tremor available at the Banshee-44 booth. Still, Gunburn takes 10 percent more damage since it is considered a new equipment.which might be enough to make you consider switching, and there are new additions to its perk pool as well.
Here are our Gunburn god throws for PvE in Destiny 2“Festival of the Lost” based on perk information from light.gg.
The Role of the Gunburn PvE God in Destiny 2

- Trunk: Polygonal rifling, corkscrew rifling or chamber compensator.
- Meg: Magwell flare mag, tactical mag, alloy mag, or secondary mag.
- First bonus: A confusing explosion.
- Second bonus: Kinetic thrusts and auxiliary ammunition.
- Honorable Mention: One for all.
In our Gunburn god throw we're aiming for core kinetic advantages: Confusing Explosion in the third column plus Kinetic tremor and/or Auxiliary ammunition in the fourth.
Gunburn's third column is not particularly difficult. Confusion Blast is by far our favorite option as it can disorient enemies without much effort. If you're looking for something different, boxer is usually a good choice for melee-based builds, while Leader from the Light can help you get extra special ammo. Threat detector not bad either, especially since Gunburn's base reload speed is low, and Lone wolf might be a little overkill with Search party lineage trait (although the Weist Stinger may come into play here). However, we think the exclusive Kinetic perk comes out on top.
There are more viable options in the fourth column: Kinetic tremor And Auxiliary ammunition although this is our favorite choice One for all continues to cause heavy damage. Orbs of Depletion is in this column, which means he'll be up against some strong players and probably won't see much use here. Binary orbit could work, especially with access to Solar, Arc, or Void damage, although we're leaning towards the others.
In terms of details, our priority is faster reloads, preferably with some added stability. However, these are not the most decisive aspects of the weapon, so it should be more of a deciding factor than an actual criteria.
Overall, you can find a lot of options in Gunburn, although we recommend focusing on the kinetic parts of his set, especially if you're using the Techsec set bonus.
How to get Gunburn in Destiny 2

The Gunburn submachine gun is available as part of the Festival of the Lost and debuted as part of the event in 2025. It can drop anywhere you can get Festival of Lost Engrams. Haunted Altars are your safest option, with two Eldritch Engrams and a chance to drop bonuses. Certain activities in the Portal, marked with a Spooky Engram icon, can also earn you Halloween-themed rewards.
However, the SMG is sure to disappear once the event is over, so it's best to go for a ride while the celebration continues. As with Solstice, any Festival of the Lost items you receive will be reduced to one level above your normal rewards.
