Music released between August 31, 2024 and August 30, 2025 was eligible for 2026 Grammy nominations, some notable recent winners including Beyoncé And Taylor Swiftwere not eligible to be nominated.
Among the nominations there are some historical nominations. For Lamar, “GNX” became his fifth studio album in a row to be nominated for Album of the Year, something no other artist has ever done. This is the first time Lady Gaga has been nominated for song, record and album of the year simultaneously. Bad Bunny also became the first Hispanic artist to be nominated for Song, Record and Album of the Year in the same year. according to Variety.
This year's awards include two new categories: Best Traditional Country Album and Best Album Cover. The existing Best Country Album category was renamed Best Contemporary Country Album.
The Traditional Country Albums category is “a response to artists with a more traditional sound who may have felt a little overshadowed on the country charts,” Christian Hoard, Rolling Stone's executive music editor, told CBS News.
“People like your Willie Nelsons or Margo Price. I think you might see someone like Charlie Crockett or Zack Tope,” he said before the nominations were announced. “These are really, really good artists who have a more traditional Nashville sound, so this is a way for them to get some recognition.”
The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, February 1, in Los Angeles. It will air on CBS and Paramount+.
