The right has been busy with the “Free Tina” slogan for some time now. Peters is currently serving a nine-year prison sentence for providing unauthorized access to voting machines in Colorado and is charged with three counts of attempting to influence a public servant, two counts of conspiracy to attempt to influence a public servant, first-degree official misconduct, dereliction of duty, failure to comply with the Secretary of State, obstruction, contempt of court, criminal impersonation and identity theft.
The right, of course, views Peters as a political prisoner rather than as someone who openly tried to use her power to swing the 2020 election in Trump's favor. Her lawyers and MAGA supporters say her health is deteriorating and she was temporarily placed in solitary confinement last month.
“FREE TINA PETERS, a brave and innocent Patriot who was tortured by crooked Colorado politicians, including a large mail-in ballot for the state's governor,” Trump published in Truth Social back in August. “Release Tina Peters from prison RIGHT NOW. She has done nothing wrong except catch the Democrats in voter fraud. She is an old woman and very sick. If she is not released, I will crack down!!!”
