Google Photos is headed to Samsung TVs, avoiding Android TV for now

Google Photos will finally debut on TVs soon, but only on Samsung TVs for now.

According to a press release, the Korean tech giant is working on bringing Google Photos to its line of TVs, allowing users to enjoy photos and videos on the big screen. Users will also be able to view curated memories on their TV, organized by people, places and meaningful moments.

Samsung says so too Google Photos will expand its suite of photo capabilities that integrate with Samsung's Visual AI Companion (VAC), which the company says “improves the way you highlight and enjoy memories throughout the day.”

According to the press release, Samsung has identified three use cases for Google Photos on its TVs:

  • Memories (scheduled to launch March 2026): Featuring carefully curated stories about people, places and meaningful moments. The first six months will be broadcast exclusively on Samsung TVs.
  • Create with AI (scheduled to launch in the second half of 2026): Presents thematic templates based on the Google DeepMind Nano Banana image creation and editing model. Users can also use the newly released Remix to transform the artistic style of an image, or use Photo to Video to convert images into short videos.
  • Personalized results (scheduled to launch in the second half of 2026): Users can view related photos as a slideshow based on the themes or contents of the memories.

How Android authority mentioned, this press release comes directly from Samsung and does not discuss Samsung experience on other TVs. However, Samsung has mentioned the temporary exclusivity of the memory feature, suggesting that it will be introduced on different platforms. It's also not immediately clear whether this is a native Google Photos app for Samsung TVs or a merger of capabilities with the TV platform.
