Godzilla vs. Biollante joined the Criterion Collection in March on Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray. It has been restored to its original aspect ratio at its original 4K (2160p) resolution using DTS-HD Master. 5.1 surround sound soundtrack. This edition also includes a new English translation of the subtitles – Japanese audio.
The 1989 film is a master class in monster movies, with compelling foes such as archenemy Biollante, who was created in a laboratory by combining Godzilla and human cells with plants. It is dynamic and has impressive special effects for its time. Godzilla vs. Biollante is a lot of fun, but it also makes a poignant commentary on humanity's relationship with technology and science. If you haven't seen it yet, just know that there are good reasons why Godzilla vs. Biollante is only Criterion's second standalone Godzilla release.
In addition to its excellent blend of science fiction, horror, and action, Godzilla vs. Biollante established a format that would be used for the rest of the Heisei era. You don't need to have seen any of the films before this, but it is a sequel to the 1994 film. Return of Godzilla.

If you buy the Showa-Era Collection, you'll already own the original 1954 film, but the 4K (2160p) version is a must-see for big fans of the franchise. It doesn't have surround sound, but uses original uncompressed mono audio.
The 4K Godzilla edition includes a fold-out case with a pop-up image of Godzilla. The 4K version costs five dollars more than the standard Blu-ray version, but it also includes the standard Blu-ray disc with the film and special features. One of the most interesting bonus features is an updated edition of the 1956 film Godzilla, King of the Monsters, directed by Terry O. Morse. It's essentially Hollywood's take on Godzilla.

Fans should also check out the recently released Shin Godzilla Limited Edition Steelbook for $35 on Amazon. It is listed as temporarily out of stock, but you can still order a copy. If you don't want to wait, Standard Edition 4K Blu-ray available for $30. Shin Godzilla is released on 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray on October 28th. Chronologically, this is the first film of the Godzilla Raiwa era.
Godzilla Minus One, one of the best films in the franchise and the newest film of the Reiwa era, is available for just $14.53 on Blu-ray And $20 for 4K Blu-ray. You can get inexpensive Godzilla movie box sets and the animated series on DVD. Earlier this year, Warner Bros. released Box set of 10 films “Godzilla and King Kong” including all MonsterVerse films plus modern and classic King Kong films for just $36. It's temporarily out of stock, but Amazon is allowing customers to place orders again. Also, you can get Amazon Limited Time Offer on MonsterVerse 5 Movie Collection this reduces the price of the DVD box set to $17.49 (from $25). It's still cool budget mega Godzilla set focused on Heisei and Millennium Era films for only $26 (was $39).

As for the franchise's comics, fans should check out IDW library permanent collection. The Godzilla comic book series is written and illustrated by the industry's top talent, and these massive paperback collections are sold at affordable prices. IDW published Volume 5 November 18.
