Christopher Judge, the iconic booming voice of Kratos from Sony Santa Monicafrom the God of War series, says he hopes the next game in the series will be set in Egypt, which actually sounds pretty cool.
During a panel at MCM London Comic Con, sent to GamesRadar+ in a press release, Judge appeared to spill the beans and then dismiss the potential existence of a third game in Sony's rebooted God of War series. The latest game was 2022's God of War Ragnarok, which was a triumphant success both critically and commercially but has yet to spawn a sequel, at least as far as we know.
“Since I became best known as Teal'c from Stargate, going to Egypt would come full circle for me,” Judge said. “But whatever they decide – wait… if there is another game, I have no doubt that whatever pantheon it is, it will be great.”
A God of War game set in Ancient Egypt is definitely an intriguing proposition and will presumably be a massive visual and thematic change from previous games, not to mention a cool full-circle moment for Judge.
However, PlayStation has yet to announce or even announce a post-Ragnarok God of War game, and Judge's comments in no way confirm a sequel. However, both God of War and 2018's Ragnarok were incredibly well-received games with strong sales, and without spoiling anything, Ragnarok definitely leaves the door open for a sequel.
All of this is to say that regardless of whether Judge actually screwed up and revealed something he shouldn't have revealed, I would be surprised if Sony decides not to continue the series. And after three long years, I’m definitely ready to return to that world.
