Glasshouse Opens Its Pre-Alpha Playtest on Steam

Welcome to Glasshouse

FLAT28 Collective has opened pre-alpha testing Greenhousewhich will run from November 22 to December 7 on Steam. This early look marks the first time players can enter the project, which the team has been developing since 2022, on their own time and without an official budget.

Glasshouse is designed as a compact CRPG Lite for adults who enjoy deep RPGs but no longer have the time for hundred-hour adventures. Its tone draws on classic thrillers, apartment life and the changing conversations that unfold behind crowded bar counters. The pre-alpha demo offers approximately forty minutes of Act I content, giving players plenty of room to explore Dorm 73B. They will also get to test an early version of turn-based combat. Plus, experiment with customizable political structures that reflect the game's themes.

Set in a condominium closed on the brink of World War, Glasshouse combines feudal punk style with a grounded sense of place. The story begins with a crime scene and three bodies, leaving players to decide whether to take control of the neighborhood, uncover hidden tensions among the residents, or focus on escaping before the situation gets worse.

The trailer introduces the world with the help of Stephanie Joosten, Ryan Cooper and Andy Mack, who joined as co-writers to support the project. Because the game is an independent project created at zero cost, there are currently no plans for full voice acting in its final release. Their presence in the trailer serves as encouragement to the team and a signal to potential partners interested in expanding its scope.

Players interested in new CRPG ideas and tightly focused storytelling can try out the pre-alpha version on Steam during the playtest period.
