Studio Ghibli fans can save on the animated character's films on Blu-ray and DVD this week at Amazon. If you creating a collection of suitable Steelbook Editionsyou can add over a dozen of these beautiful collector's editions to your Ghibli shelf for $18 or less. Many films written and directed by Studio Ghibli co-founder Hayao Miyazaki are included in the catalog of Steelbook Edition offerings. And if you're one of the many Ghibli fans who still watch some of the classic films on DVD, now is the time to stock up. Eat 15 Studio Ghibli Movies on DVD for $8 or Lessand 10 of them are only $6 each.
Studio Ghibli Steelbook Editions are Blu-ray and DVD combo packs. In addition to the collector's slipcase, each film comes with special features and an exclusive booklet featuring creator commentary, storyboards and concept art. Booklets are also included with the standard Blu-ray editions, but you won't find them on the individual DVD releases. However, as mentioned, several Studio Ghibli films are available on DVD. Eight Studio Ghibli films written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki are available for $18 in their respective Steelbook Editions: Spirited Away, Recovery, My neighbor Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Princess Mononoke, Porco RossoAnd The wind is getting stronger.
These eight Miyazaki-directed films and most of the other Steelbook Editions in the Ghibli Shout Factory catalog follow the same design aesthetic: a bright, solid color background with character art in the middle (as shown above). “The Boy and the Heron” and “Grave of the Fireflies” are exceptions to this rule. The Boy and the Heron, the first and only Studio Ghibli film on 4K Blu-ray, features the full scene on the Steelbook cover. Steelbook edition of The Boy and the Heron in 4K resolution reduced to $28 (was $45). Shout Factory took the same approach with Grave of the Fireflies when the 1989 film returned to Blu-ray this summer after being out of print for years. Grave of the Fireflies in steelbook reduced to an all-time low price of $17.89 (down from $27).
The cheapest version of the Studio Ghibli Steelbook Edition at the moment is Earwig and Witch for $10.. If you haven't seen it yet, just know that the 2020 film abandons Studio Ghibli's distinct visual style in favor of fairly generic 3D animation. It is considered by many to be Studio Ghibli's worst film. We also included Upcoming Steelbook Edition: The Castle of Cagliostro in the list above. Although not a Ghibli film—it was released before Studio Ghibli existed—the 1979 animated film marked Hayao Miyazaki's directorial debut. Castle of Cagliostro in steelbook is a Crunchyroll exclusive and will be released on December 14th.
Studio Ghibli Blu-ray Box Sets (Walmart Exclusive)
Walmart is offering exclusive Studio Ghibli Blu-ray box sets of films written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. Studio Ghibli 4-Pack it seems there is only launched. Priced at $36.96, this collection includes the standard Blu-ray and DVD combo packs of Castle in the Sky, Kiki's Delivery Service, Ponyo, and My Neighbor Totoro. Each film comes in its own plastic sleeve, and you still get booklets for all four. Aside from saving money, the only difference here is that you get a large sleeve with the covers of all four films.
Walmart has three two-packs of Studio Ghibli films. Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind included for $20. You can also get Howl's Moving Castle with Spirited Away for 23 dollars. The third set includes two films from the 4-movie set: My Neighbor Totoro and Ponyo for $20.
How to expand your Studio Ghibli collection
Some of Shout Factory's Studio Ghibli Steelbook editions are no longer in print, including Castle in the sky1986 fantasy adventure film written and directed by Miyazaki. One of the films he wrote but did not direct. Whisper of the Heartalso out of print. Steelbook edition of the 2002 spin-off “Whisper of the Heart” The cat is back also no longer available.

As mentioned above, this is not a Ghibli film, but it is directed by Hayao Miyazaki.
Some of the new standard editions come with cardboard covers, and most are made by Shout Factory, but there are still Blu-ray discs from the days when Disney distributed Studio Ghibli films on Blu-ray and DVD.
Hayao Miyazaki's manga and Studio Ghibli Film comics
Also worth watching for Miyazaki fans Manga box set “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind”. This is the only manga series authored by Miyazaki. Naturally, the seven-volume set contains a lot of material that was not included in the film adaptation. The box set combines the entire run into two hardcover books totaling 1,104 pages. This beautiful collection was unavailable for purchase for a while, but Amazon is now accepting orders for it again as of August 7th. You can also get Shuna's Journeymanga written and illustrated with watercolors by Miyazaki, over 50% off. The touching story, first published in 1983, finally received an English translation in 2022.
Over the years, several Studio Ghibli hits have been adapted into comic books. Up until last year, many individual comic book movie volumes were struggling because they were no longer being released. Viz Media's new universal editions bring comic book movies back to life in the form of affordable hardcover books. Comic book adaptations Spirited Away, My neighbor Totoro, Kiki delivery serviceAnd Recovery available now. Each book consists of stills from the films and text that tells the whole story in different media.
Spirited Away Omnibus is the largest of the bunch, with 856 pages, so it costs five dollars more than the other three currently available, but it sells for just $29.17 on Amazon. Universal edition of the comic book Ponyo was published in July and is already on sale for just $21.76. You can also pre-order Princess Mononoke Comics: Universal Edition for $32.55 (was $35) ahead of January 2026 release. Like Spirited Away, the Princess Mononoke comic book collection runs to 856 pages.
