Geoff Crammond Racing Series Is Making a Comeback Next Year

Microprose and Geoff Crammond are back again

MicroProse announced a renewed partnership with legendary developer Geoff Crammond, marking the return of one of the most influential racing series ever created. Crammond's work defined the racing gaming era of the 1990s and early 2000s, and this collaboration aims to bring that legacy back to modern audiences.

The partnership will revive Crammond's original racing game technology through a re-release of the classic engine, complete with modern enhancements, new development tools and full Steam Workshop support. These efforts will translate into Geoff Crammond Racing's upcoming series, consisting of the GCR1, GCR2, GCR3 and GCR4, scheduled for release in 2026.

These games will be released under new titles that reflect their independent creative direction. It will also ensure complete separation from any official motorsport licensing. Although the branding has changed, the essence of the experience remains the same. The core simulation engine, physics systems, and innovative gameplay concepts developed by Geoff Crammond continue to form the core of each game.

Crammond's original games helped pioneer many of the features that are now standard in racing simulators. These include advanced real-time physics and customizable driving assistance systems. This includes ideal racing lines, steering support and automatic braking, as well as realistic AI behavior. Players can also expect in-depth telemetry analysis, detailed vehicle customization options, and robust wet weather detection systems that significantly impact racing conditions.

The GCR Series builds on this legacy by opening up opportunities for community creativity. Steam Workshop integration will allow players to create and share their own tracks, cars, liveries, teams and drivers.

This reunion marks the beginning of a long-term partnership between MicroProse and Geoff Crammond. New announcements will be made as development continues. MicroProse returns to racing with a focus on depth, authenticity and community development.
