I hope that colleagues -Jews will join me in redrawing their approach to redeeming and go to courage to put an end to this terrible genocide.

Since the global flotilla began at the end of summer, as an international initiative headed by civil society, the peaceful ruin of the Israeli gas network, David Adler, the coordination coordinator of Progressive International and the Flotilla participant, communicated with the world through texts and direct messages. On Tuesday, when more than 40 ships came within 200 miles from the coast of Gaza and Israel, and encountered warnings that they would be intercepted by the Israeli fleet, it began to look like a flotilla could arrive at Yom Kipur, the most sacred day in the Jewish calendar. David reflected on this prospect in a letter that he shared on social networks and published here. He told me: “This is my last letter from the Global Flotilla Sumud before our probable interception – taking into account the coincidence, to the arrival of Yom Kipur. However, this coincidence is an opportunity to contact my colleagues around the world and around the world, as well as bring them to the mission of Flotilla. Tikkun Olam. Tikkun Olam This is a Jewish concept that refers to the repair of the world.    John Nichols

Today I write a very personal letter to all of you – a letter about what it means to me to be a Jew at the mission, which should arrive in the Red Zone during Yom Kipur, the most holy day of the Jewish calendar.

I almost never write “like a Jew.” I share exhaustion when I was forced to put Jewish feelings first – when the genocide was committed in the name of Zionist “national interest”, and when activists were detained, tormented and deported in the name of our “security”.

But today I felt forced to write in this register – as one of the few Jews in this mission, which unites more than 500 people from more than 40 countries of the world.

I believe that the time of our flotilla is not by chance. On the contrary, I believe that this is a blessing that we are approaching Tikkun OlamField

How can we atone for what was done on our behalf? How can we look for forgiveness for sins that multiply for an hour, like bombs and bullets rain on gas? How could we relate to our mandate “heal the world” when the state of Israel is so full of determination to destroy it?

If there is any part of the Torah that I still remember, this obligation it gives us: “Justice, justice that you must pursue.” How could we stand aside, while the state of Israel is perverted in this holy obligation, watching the Holocaust of the Palestinian people?

I joined this flotilla, like any other delegate – to protect humanity, it has not been too late. But on Yom Kipur reminds me that I am here too, because my Jewish heritage requires this.

How just a teenager, my grandfather Jacques Adler joined the Paris resistance to the Nazis, putting his life on a line to sabotage their operations, even when his friends and family were sent to their death in concentration camps.

This is the tradition to which I am called, and the definition of “justice”, which feels true to my Jewish identity – like the same genocide rage that is aimed at my ancestors, is now raised by its main victims.

Yom Kipur is a day of fasting, a way to show our atonement in physical form. But over the past two years, starving people had had no choice but to abandon their daily bread.

If Israeli forces us to intercept Kipur on Yom, then let him see what the true atonement looks like. Do not comprehend in comfort, starving with your neighbors. Do not pray safe, throwing bombs on your head. Atonement means action.

Therefore, when the sun sits down tonight, and the post will begin, I hope that colleagues -Jews will join me in redrawing their approach to redeeming – with silent prayer and bold action in order to put an end to this terrible genocide.
