OTTAWA, Ontario, Nov. 12, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Three national and regional animal health associations are joining forces to announce the first annual Global Best Pets Showdown, bringing together pets and animal lovers from around the world in a competition designed to celebrate the bond between people and their animals.
The international competition pits the winners of three popular competitions – Parliament Hill's Cutest Pets (Canada), Capitol Hill's Cutest Pets (USA) and Brussels Bubble Best Friends (Europe) – in one global competition to determine once and for all: Who's the cutest?
The friendly competition, organized by the Canadian Animal Health Institute (CAHI), the Animal Health Institute (AHI) and AnimalhealthEurope, aims to highlight the shared passion for the health, welfare and companionship of animals on every continent.
“The Global Cuteest Pets Showdown demonstrates how pets can transcend politics and boundaries, strengthening relationships and understanding despite political and ideological differences,” said Catherine Fileiski, president of the Canadian Institute of Animal Health. “On Parliament Hill, we saw first-hand how our four-legged friends can transcend partisan differences and remind us that animal welfare is a shared priority that unites politicians, industry and the public. But Canadian pets are definitely the cutest, so give Canada an elbow lift!”
Martha Scott Poindexter, President and CEO of the Institute for Animal Health, added: “It's hard to agree on an issue these days in Washington, but the important role pets play in our lives brings everyone together. The Capitol Hill Cutest Pets competition helps focus attention on the important role of keeping pets healthy, and we're excited to spread that message around the world in friendly competition with our partners in Canada and Europe.”
Roxanne Feller, CEO of Brussels-based AnimalhealthEurope, shared: “This global collaboration reflects our shared commitment to animal health and healthy societies. Whether in Europe, North America or beyond, our pets remind us why the work we do in animal health really matters.”
Participants and the public are encouraged to cast their votes for their favorite finalist via the competition website. The winning pet will be announced on December 9th.thInternational Veterinary Medicine Day, earning full bragging rights as the world's cutest pet of 2025 and more importantly, the hearts of animal lovers everywhere.
