Freedom Mobile launches 5G Home Internet starting at $24/mo

Freedom Mobile now offers home Internet based on a 5G wireless network, which the company is positioning as a more affordable option for ordinary users.

Details sent by email MobileSyrupFreedom said its new 5G home internet service will be available in select markets with limited locations. The Company will contact existing eligible customers and invite them to register. However, it is unclear which markets will have access.

The operator reserves slots for invited customers, but those who don't receive an invite can register on Freedom's website to be notified if a spot opens in their area.

Moreover, Svoboda company website notes that mobile communication is required. The company is offering a three-month grace period during which subscribers can keep their home 5G internet at a higher price, but the operator warns it will cancel internet service if customers don't use mobile data for more than three months.

Freedom 5G Home Internet will cost $24 per month when combined with a qualifying Freedom Mobile plan. Below are the introductory offers listed on the Freedom website:

  • $24/month, 200GB ($60/month without mobile).
  • $24 per month, 600 GB ($80 per month without mobile).
  • $44 per month, 1000 GB ($100 per month without mobile).

No matter which plan you choose, Freedom promises download speeds of up to 100 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 10 Mbps. All three plans include Freedom's “Price Freeze Promise,” which means prices won't rise as long as customers keep their mobile data plan. Plans also include Nokia Gateway Wi-Fi 7 with TradeUp for 24 months at $0 per month.

Overall, the new 5G home internet service looks like a promising new offering from Freedom, especially if the price is right (and the starting price seems pretty good to me). The service won't suit everyone – a heavy internet user like me who regularly streams, plays and works from home might find the data caps and download/upload speeds insufficient – but for light users who want a cheaper internet option, it definitely sounds promising.
