Fox Entertainment Studios And HarperCollins The publishers entered into a two-way first look deal.
According to a press release, the agreement aims to create a “consistent content pipeline” between the two companies. Fox will develop TV series and films based on books from HarperCollins Avon A, and the publisher will have the opportunity to adapt studio originals into print form. Companies are also considering cross-platform collaborations, such as releasing companion books at the same time as screen projects. HarperCollins Productions Principals Caroline Fraser and Jennifer Contrucci will serve as producers without involvement in projects co-produced by both companies.
“From teen to horror, Avon A has assembled an impressive library of genre and topical stories that are crying out for adaptation,” Fox script supervisor Hannah Pillemer said in a statement. “Our ability to assemble this rich, ever-growing collection opens up a world of storytelling possibilities with timely immediacy for viewers and readers alike. The mutual nature of our partnership makes it even more exciting, connecting audiences to great stories in new ways and giving them new opportunities to enjoy their favorite characters across multiple mediums.”
“Developing new intellectual property, both on screen and on the page, is the kind of symbiotic relationship that a storyteller dreams of, whether you're an author or a screenwriter,” said Fraser, head of HarperCollins Productions. “The Avon A team and our friends at Fox have already carefully worked through their adaptation wish lists and plan to announce the first set of fresh, exciting storytelling opportunities soon. From captivating audiences with a great new film to inspiring people to read the books, there's no doubt that this partnership is a great match.”
“This is about building a true creative dialogue between two companies that deeply understand what readers and audiences want,” said Tessa Woodward, vice president and editorial director of Avon A. “By combining our focus on creating relevant, genre-spanning fiction for readers of all ages with Fox's experience in creating unforgettable scripted entertainment, we are creating a pipeline that delivers compelling commercial stories across platforms, deepening fan engagement and creating new entry points.” into the creativity of our authors.”
