Spanish police told the Associated Press that a man named Luis Ruben Rubiales had been arrested. No motive was immediately revealed. The suspect turned out to be Rubiales' uncle and a local actor.
“The man who came in, who I later saw, was my uncle, who has always been a troubled man,” Rubiales told reporters, via the AP. “He had some eggs and he threw them at me, but I didn't know what he had in his hands and when I first saw him I thought he might be armed with a weapon.”

SPANISH FOOTBALL EXPERT RECEIVED A FINE FOR UNWANTED KISS OF A WOMAN PLAYER
In February, Rubiales was found guilty of sexually assaulting Spanish soccer player Jenny Hermoso after he kissed her without her consent following the 2023 Women's World Cup final. The controversy overshadowed the Spanish title and led to Rubiales' resignation just weeks later.
Although prosecutors sought prison time, Rubiales was ordered to pay a fine and banned from being near or communicating with Hermoso for a year.
