Ford on Tuesday reported growth in U.S. auto sales in 2025 as strong consumer appetite for hybrid models and affordable pickup trucks helped the company offset slowing sales of electric vehicles, the company said.
The Detroit automaker's annual sales rose six percent in 2025 to 2,204,124 vehicles, up from 2,078,832 a year earlier. The company's sales also rose in the fourth quarter. 2.7 percent, the automaker said.
“These were Ford's best annual sales and fourth-quarter performance since 2019,” the company said in a statement.
The announcement came a day after automakers such as Toyota, Hyundai and General Motors also reported higher annual sales despite a turbulent year for the industry marked by tariffs and the US government's elimination of a $7,500 tax credit on electric vehicles.
Ford said its customers have opted for affordable base models to cope with high industry prices.

In Ford's best year for hybrid vehicles, sales rose nearly 22 percent to 228,072 units, up from 187,426 units a year ago.
Demand for an affordable and compact Maverick truck also remained strong; vehicle sales rose about 18 percent to 155,051 from 131,142 a year earlier.
Maverick sales “really had a big impact on how we addressed the affordability issue in the market,” Andrew Frick, head of Ford's gasoline and electric vehicle business, said during a Monday evening conference call.
For a number of models that regularly showed good results, the year also turned out to be successful. Ford says their saw is for F-Series trucks 828 832 sales to increase 8.3 percent, while Ford Pro Transit van also set an annual sales record.
