Ford will watch World Series from ‘man cave’ given ticket prices, predicts Blue Jays win

Ontario Premier Doug Ford says he predicts Toronto Blue Jays will win World Series and that he'll be watching it from his “man cave” at home, given the sky-high ticket prices.

“I'll be realistic, so I'll say Jays out of six,” Ford said at an unrelated news conference Thursday with the prime minister. Mark Carneywho agreed with Ford's prediction.

The Blue Jays advanced to the World Series after defeating the Seattle Mariners on Monday and will play the Los Angeles Dodgers, the defending champions.

“I'll sit in my cave because I'm not paying $1,500 for a ticket,” Ford said, referring to the high prices of tickets sold online.

“And by the way, these ticket collectors, they're going to pay the price, we're going to get to them, but I'm going to sit in my cave and watch the game,” Ford added.

The Prime Minister stated that he wants get back to stopping ticket resale scams in light of Blue Jays ticket pricesafter his government had previously repealed the resale limit law when the PCs took power.

A section of the previous Liberal government's Ticketing Act included this restriction, but the Progressive Conservatives suspended its implementation shortly after the 2018 election. A year later, in 2019, it rescinded the rule, saying it was unenforceable and would force consumers to buy tickets on the black market and drive up costs.

Meanwhile, Carney said the series will “go deeper.”

“It’s going to be a great series,” Carney said. “But we've got depth, we've got fire, you can see the performance. It's going to be fantastic.”

He also noted that he would be in Asia to meet with leaders there during the Series, calling the trip “the worst trip ever.”

Asked by reporters if there were any bets with the US on who would win, Carney replied: “You know, it's funny they didn't call. I think they're scared.”
