Australian internet troll who rocked out with Ariana Grande at the Wicked: For Good premiere in Singapore was sentenced on Monday to nine days in prison.
Johnson WenThe 26-year-old served his fourth day in custody on Monday, Channel News Asia reported. He will finish his sentence after Friday.
The fast-paced case began on November 13 when Wen jumped over a barricade, ran towards Grande and grabbed the star on the film's yellow carpet. He was fast blocked by co-stars Cynthia Erivo and Michelle Yeoh.
How security dragged Wen away he broke free from the VIP area and tried to jump the fence again but was quickly subdued, authorities said. He was arrested again the next day and formally charged under Singapore's public nuisance law.
Wen pleaded guilty during his first court appearance. He has pulled off similar stunts in the past and posted them on social media. under the name “Man in Pajamas”. He has previously bypassed security and harassed Katy Perry, The Weeknd and the Chainsmokers at events in Australia.
During the sentencing hearing, Wen told the judge, “I won't do this again, your honor.” And when his sincerity was questioned, he said: “I'm going to stop, your honor… I have a problem,” Channel News Asia reported.
But the judge didn't buy it. He told Wen that his attention-seeking behavior pattern “suggests that will you do it again” The Sydney Morning Herald reported. The judge ended the hearing by telling Wen he hoped the verdict would stop his actions “for good.”
