Mark Norman/BBCThe NHS is offering flu jabs at an East Sussex pub as part of a campaign to encourage more people to get vaccinated.
Across the county, 52% of people eligible for a flu jab have received a free flu jab this winter, according to NHS Sussex, which equates to around 506,000 residents.
A satellite vaccination clinic is now available at The Bevy, a community pub on the hillside in Brighton.
Holly Defries, lead nurse at the Brighton and Hove Federation, said the aim was to “reach as many people as possible”.
Peter, who is classified as a vulnerable person, received his flu and Covid-19 jabs at the pub.
“I would put it off and put it off, so it’s quite convenient for me,” he said.
Meanwhile, Penny, a local woman who has been suffering from long-term breathing difficulties, has urged others to get the jab.
“I can't afford to get sick. Difficulty breathing always affects my lungs. I do my best to stay as healthy as possible. Please get the injections if you can,” she said.
Dr Amy Dissanayake, interim chief medical officer for NHS Sussex, stressed the importance of winter protection.
“Flu activity started earlier than expected this year, and Covid continues to pose a risk to older adults and people with weakened immune systems,” she said.
“Vaccination remains the most effective way to avoid serious illness and hospitalization.
“As we move into a period of increased social contact, it is vital that eligible residents apply for their winter vaccination. Prioritizing your health is one of the most important decisions you can make.”
Eligible residents can book a flu or Covid-19 vaccination through the NHS app, online, through their GP practice or by calling 119.
