Florence Pugh has spoken candidly about the project she regrets taking on and says she wishes she had never starred in Netflix horror film Sinister.
“This is probably the only movie I wish I had never made,” Pugh said. Louis Theroux Podcast. “I think everyone has a movie like that.”
“I think it was just a movie I made when I was younger and I needed the money,” she continued. “And I thought, 'Well, obviously this is great.' And then I got there and it wasn’t great.”
Sinister stars Pugh and Ben Lloyd-Hughes as con-artist siblings who take on clients who think their homes are haunted and fake paranormal activity. However, as they do one job, they realize that things may become a little more real than they ever expected.
Released on Netflix back in 2018, the film received mixed reviews and has a critic score of 54% on Rotten Tomatoes (and an audience score of 18%). The following year, Pugh starred in Fighting My Family, Midsommar and Little Women.
In the same interview with Theroux, she said that making Midsommar, in which she plays a grieving woman entangled in a Swedish cult, “really messed me up.”
“I’d never done anything like this before and I thought, ‘Okay, here’s my opportunity. I need to try.” And I would just put myself through hell,” she said.
Next up for Pugh is a double blockbuster, starring in both films. Avengers: Judgment Day And Dune: Part Threewhich will be released on the same day next December. In Judgment Day, she will reprise her role as Yelena Belova in the MCU. Thunderbolts*and in Dune 3 she will return as Princess Irulan.
