The NHL's Department of Player Safety suspended Calgary Flames forward John Beecher and Winnipeg Jets defenseman Logan Stanley for one game each Sunday for separate egregious incidents.
Beecher caught Nashville Predators forward Michael McCarron off guard with a hit while being restrained by two linesmen at 1:15 p.m. in the first period of Calgary's 4-3 loss on Saturday.
The bare-knuckle hit came moments after McCarron dropped his gloves and began swinging at Beecher as a fight broke out near the Flames bench.
Beecher, 24 at the time, received a minor gross incision and a 10-minute misconduct. He later left the game with an injury after fighting Nashville's Nick Hague in the second period.
Meanwhile, Stanley delivered a gloveless shot to the face of an unsuspecting Brady Tkachuk at 12:07 of the second period of Winnipeg's 4-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.
Stanley, 27, was found a minor for rough handling and illegal use of equipment, and Tkachuk, who became enraged after receiving the punch, received a 10-minute conduct violation.
Neither player had previously been suspended or fined in their NHL careers. Beecher played 155 games and Stanley 242.
