Now fans of the film franchise can get a behind-the-scenes look at the special effects and animation that were used to bring the characters to life in a new book called The Creation of Avatar. From publisher DK and 20th Century Studios, The Making of Avatar offers an in-depth look at the making of all three Avatar films, including interviews with the creative team and actors, sneak peeks at storyboards, and a look at digital animation and the acting capture process. The 256-page hardcover volume also includes never-before-seen photographs and on-set footage, including an in-depth look at the special effects studio where everything came together.
Created in collaboration with James Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment, Creation of Avatar includes a foreword by the director himself. According to the book's description, “the Avatar franchise is world-renowned for its astonishing feats of technological innovation, including breakthroughs in 3D filming,” and the book reveals “the secrets behind the incredible special effects that unforgettably brought the planet Pandora to life.”
This isn't the only Avatar book trending right now: fans can also purchase Avatar: Fire and Ash: The Visual Dictionary, which offers an in-depth look at every character, environment, weapon, and technology used in the new film.
Co-produced by Cameron, it's a definitive guide to the world of Avatar, with new entries on new “characters, flora and fauna” as well as “revealing information about their lifestyles, possessions and environment,” according to the book's description.
