Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s director has one key, and likely familiar, word to keep in mind for part 3

I'm definitely the sucker who doesn't have many complaints about Final Fantasy 7 Remake breaks into several parts. These are my guys! I like my grumpy idiot, too realistic looking Cloud. I think such a good implementation of Midgar helps justify splitting the game up, and it's as maximalist as it gets Renaissance there's a quality to it that I can't help but admire, even despite its many flaws. However, keeping things fresh is still essential to splitting the game, and in a recent interview, director Naoki Hamaguchi talked about how he's trying to do that with the as-yet-untitled third installment.

Talking to YouTube Julien Chiez (Thank you, GamesRadar), Hamaguchi noted that, firstly, he “never intended to create a three-part series that would offer the same experience every time. For the first game, the goal was to define what the remake actually was, and for the second game we added an open world dimension to expand the scope of the experience.” Regarding the third game, the director noted the need to “introduce a new experience and a new scale. And in this evolution, one of the key words is “Highwind”.

Hamaguchi further explained that “the new experience the game will offer is almost complete” and is entering the fleshing out phase. The entire game has apparently even reached the point where it's “starting” to live up to the director's vision, although it very politely asks us all to wait a little longer, promising more information “soon.”

Whether it's Jeff's “Night of Advertising and a Few Statues” coming soon or “Random Thursday” in February, I have no idea. The main question is whether we PCs will get it at the same time as everyone else. Square Enix really suffered quite a big internal shift over the past yearoutlining his intention to have more multi-platform releases so that the fingers don't get too big.
